As photovoltaic (PV) systems became increasingly affordable and reliable, electricity consumers are looking to use their property to generate electricity for self-supply. PV systems on their own will not significantly impact the end users energy costs unless integrated with a form of energy storage to help manage the energy produced by the PV system. This masters thesis will discuss the challenges of integrating commercial Behind-the-Meter PV distributed energy resource technologies. A techno-economic case study of using small scale PV with battery energy storage solutions (BESS) as a means for peak power demand and energy cost reduction in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be presented.
