Purpose: We have introduced a new surgical approach for extended thoracic aortic repair, anterolateral thoracotomy with partial sternotomy (ALPS). Description: The surgical approach to the chest was made via left anterolateral thoracotomy and lower median sternotomy through the third or fourth intercostal space.
