The root zone of successive Oligocene alluvial fans is located between the Alpine border and the Oligo-Miocene molasse basin. The SE dipping Subalpine molasse has been thrusted as several sheets during the last Alpine movements in the Pliocene. A landslide in 1980 at the Beichten Mountain, Entlebuch (Lucerne), has exposed a large number of plant remains: Sa/ür-willow-and especially A/rks-alder, leaves and catkins-several tens of needle pairs of P/mcv (pl. 1 and 2).
