Routing strategies play an essential role in network traffic distribution and consequently influence network performance. Adaptive routing requires that decisions on network condition be made so that network resources can be better used. An adaptive mechanism also generates additional updating messages over the network, inevitably augmenting the amount of traffic circulating therein.
