Despite the efforts that have been done for communication networks greening, researches in this field still encounter different issues and a considerable number of challenges need to be dealt with. In this paper, we first introduce the concept of ICT greening. After that, we introduce the recent research in this field and highlight the main used concepts. By studying the advantages and drawbacks of the latter, we aim to give some solutions and suggestions that could be helpful for the future researches in the field of energy saving in networks.
