Tesi di Dottorato di Ricerca (XXXII Ciclo) Abstract (English) The present research Thesis is part of a growing interdisciplinary field of studies concerned with finding strategies to foster ecosystem stewardship of social-ecological systems (SESs) as complex adaptive systems (CASs), such as cities and, in particular, of those that involve the notion of and practice of participation and collaborative design, to effectively build resilience in SESs as CASs, in the context of globally increasing concern for the actual climate change and ecological crisis, and for the existential threat to Planet Earth's life systems, represented by our role and impact as a species on planetary processes.
