One of the most important issues in the process of development and implemention of a manufacturing system is production scheduling. Different scheduling rules and algorithms have been widely developed and used for supporting decision-making in production scheduling. However, in practice, it is very difficult for a user to understand, build or select a suitable and efficient model for the system considered. Hence, an intelligent system is to be built for problem solving. This paper describes how

The prototype system developed may be used for daily production scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
