... at developing its own teaching projects as regards computer science, data communication and multimedia, as well as cooperative projects both at national and international level. Abstract The aim of this article is to show the possibility of building an Interactive Distance Learning Environment, starting from a "static" multimedia archive. A prototype of this model, developed by METID inside the "On-line Courses System" platform, will be described with all its available functionalities. Afterwards the criteria adopted for the different user profiles will be discussed. Finally, several examples and applications will be presented in order to demonstrate the strategic approach for distance learning education.
