The article is dedicated to the anniversary of Igor Alekseevich Melnikov, chief researcher at the Institute of Oceanology, Doctor of Biological Sciences. Out of 50 years of work at the Institute of IO RAS, four decades of his scientific activity are devoted to research in the Arctic and Antarctic.
