We demonstrated vertical alignment (VA) of smectic A (SmA) liquid crystals (LCs) with the direct Iso-SmA transition by employing amorphous perfluoropolymer (PPFVB) as an alignment layer. The self-recovery to vertical alignment of SmA LCs was observed from deformed layer orientations caused by crystallization or external pressure. The high alignment
