A B S T R A C T Honeywell (formerly AlliedSignal) has been developing a portable 0.5 kW solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system operating on logistic fuels (JP and diesel fuels) and other hydrocarbons. The system consists of a SOFC stack for electric power generation, a catalytic partial oxidation (CPOX) fuel processor, required heat exchangers for thermal control and management, means of supplying fuel and air, and a startup subsystem.
