A B S T R A C T Honeywell (formerly AlliedSignal) has been developing a portable 0.5 kW solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system operating on logistic fuels (JP and diesel fuels) and other hydrocarbons. The system consists of a SOFC stack for electric power generation, a catalytic partial oxidation (CPOX) fuel processor, required heat exchangers for thermal control and management, means of supplying fuel and air, and a startup subsystem. Modeling and performance analysis have been conducted to

Evaluation of key components, component integration, and system operation demonstration have been initiated. This paper discusses the status of these system development activities and summarizes the results obtained to date.
