Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders and major diverse disease around the world. Unusual liver function tests are oftenobserved in patients with diabetes mellitus, and are associated with sever complication.This study was conducted in the AL-Ramadi Teaching hospital between June 2017 and June 2018, with the participation of 100 type -2 diabetic patients and 100 age-matched healthy subjects in order to detect the liverfunction tests abnormality in type-2 diabetic patients.

... rs like serum albumin, serum total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) were used.The results showed thatliver function testparameters including, ALP, AST and ALT were significantly elevated in type -2 diabetic patients when compared to healthy subjects (p <0.001), serum albumin was significantly lower in type-2 diabetic patients (p <0.001), while serum bilirubin was not significantly different between the two groups p value was0.917.Despite of the differences were statically significant, the means of all the parameters in this study were within the normal range. 46% of the patients had at leastone or moreabnormal liver function test.
