Optimizing the Scientific Study of Suicide with Open and Transparent Research Practices [post]

In recent years, concerns about the standard practices surrounding how research in psychology is conducted has been raised. To help researchers in psychology address these concerns, the 'open science' community subsequently provided a set of practices and considerations. These include using open science platforms, pre-registering studies, ensuring reproducible analyses, open access to research materials and products, and conducting replication studies. In this article, we discuss the issues that may undermine scientific reproducibility in the suicide research field and provide recommendations to address the potential problems that suicide researchers may encounter as they adopt open science practices.
