Hypothesis: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) may improve survival of high-risk patients with unresectable and refractory tumors. Design: Retrospective analysis of a prospective database. Setting: A tertiary referral cancer center. Patients and Methods: Between November 1, 1997, and January 31, 2005, we performed 219 RFA procedures to ablate 521 hepatic tumors in 181 patients. Results: Of the 181 patients, 52% were male and 48% were female, and the mean age was 61.3 years (age range, 27-91 years).
