In general, our findings indicated that a significant association existed between XRCC1 Arg399Gln polymorphism and the risk of NPC in the studied Chinese population, and there may be no association between Arg280His, Arg194Trp polymorphisms and NPC risk. In conclusion , this meta-analysis provides evidence that XRCC1 Arg399Gln polymorphism is associated with NPC in the Chinese population. Further studies in other ethnic groups are required for definite conclusions.
