Princeton University Library's Map and Geospatial Information Center has recently started a project to create historical boundary data of African British Colonies. The maps for creating the boundaries are taken from the British Colonial Reports-Annuals, the British Colonial Reports, and the British Colonial Office List Map Supplement. ... torical boundaries and conflate the historical vectorized boundaries to the boundary data downloaded from the GADM website. Most of the historical boundaries will be nested within the GADM boundaries , if the GADM boundaries are within horizontal accuracy of the scanned map. This paper will introduce new methodologies of creating historical boundary data.
