A bsorption cross-section m easurem ents on the vacuum ultraviolet spectrum of cadm ium vapour B y G. V. M a r r a n d J. M. A u s t i n New atomic cross-sectional data are reported in graphical and tabular form from the ionization threshold at 1378 A down to 525 A. The value of the photoionization cross-section at the threshold is 0*32 + 0*6 Mb falling to 0*1 Mb in the region of 1200 A and thereafter is dominated by autoionizing transitions.
