The monitoring and visualization is a very important component of any system since what is not measured and monitored cannot be managed and improved. This report (D4.1) describes the monitoring architecture for the CHESS SETUP from the lowest level of physical magnitudes, sensors, actuators and signals, to the highest level point of view of an operator that interacts with the system using an HMI (Human Machine Interface). The CHESS SETUP Project aims for efficient energy generation,
more » ... and conditioning. Therefore, the main variable that will be monitored for this systems is energy, and one of the main targets of the monitoring system is the measurement of the energy transfers (distribution) within the components of the system, i.e., production, storage, conditioning and the final customer. In addition, the monitoring system has to take into account auxiliary measurements and management signals needed for controlling the individual devices of the system as well as for the alarm generation. Hence, this report includes information about the elements and variables which will be monitored, the used monitoring devices, and the system to process the obtained information.
