We performed the classi cation and quanti cation of forest stand structures and analysis of state and damage of natural regeneration in a mixed r-beech forest that was le to the natural development a er the cessation of management in 1982. In National Nature Reserve Mláčik, twenty circular research plots (500 m 2 ) were established in 2009. more » ... al regeneration (individuals with the height 0.2 -1.3 m) were registered. Using the non-hierarchical cluster analysis, six types of forest stand structures were distinguished. irty years a er the last silvicultural intervention, homogenous structures (homogenous sparse structure, homogenous structure with high volume, and homogenous structure with medium volume) still formed 60% of the stand area. On the remained 40% of the stand, more or less di erentiated structures (two-layered structure without lower layer, two-layered structure with upper and lower layer, and di erentiated structure with high stem density) were present that con rmed the successive and spontaneous age, diameter and height di erentiation. Various stand structures in uenced to the large extend also the density and tree species representation of the natural regeneration.
