:The variation of vascular bundle ( Vb ) system and its relation to the development of starch grains in the endosperm were studied by using 8 rice cultivars of indica , tropical − and temperate ゾ α ρ o η ' ω types . The number of Vb was highest in indica , followed by tropical − and temperate − japonica . The same order of the ratio of Vb to the number of rachis branch ( Rb ) , V / R ratio , was observed .
