The Fact that caries occurs not only as a large lesion anymore but lately promoted as an initial defect, makes a more sensitive caries detection system needed. Such a system is the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS-II). Up to now there are only little information about the correlation between visual inspection findings, treatment-planning and actual lesions depth. The aim of this study was to verify the correlation of visual inspection results and actual lesions depth.
