Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are the most common mesenchymal neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract believed to originate from interstitial cells of Cajal. Development of GISTs outside the gastrointestinal system, called as Extra-intestinal gastrointestinal stromal tumor (EGISTs) is rare.
