Validation of the Simulation of Flow in an S-duct

Flow in a diffusing s-shaped intake has been examined using computational fluid dynamics simulations. This paper discusses the effects of different modelling techniques for such flows. Inviscid modelling gave a qualitatively good description of the flow for a simple low mass flow case. However it was seen that at high mass flow rates the inviscid solution is unsteady unless a modification is made to the duct geometry.
