ZusammenfassungObwohl kulturelle und biologische Evolution sich in vieler Hinsicht ähneln, steht die Soziologie evolutionären Erklärungen sozialen Verhaltens noch immer weitgehend ablehnend gegenüber. Ein Grund dafür ist, daß Darwins ursprüngliche Ideen in der Folge durch ein verengtes genetisches Modell der Evolution ersetzt wurden, das kulturelle Merkmale an ihren Reproduktionserfolg band und dem einzelnen Organismus nur eine passive Rolle im Evolutionsprozeß zugestand.
