A 53-year-old lady presents with worsening dysphagia to solids and liquids along with regurgitation. Endoscopy, barium swallow and manometry confirmed a diagnosis of achalasia, for which she successfully underwent a laparoscopic Heller myotomy and Dor fundoplication. The epidemiology, etiology, patho-physiology, investigation modalities, treatment options and follow-up of achalasia will be discussed.
