AbstractThe degradation of chitosan in the presence of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) or poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) by a crude enzyme complex from Trichoderma viride was studied. It was found that neither PVA nor PAA suppress chitosan hydrolysis. By varying the experimental conditions, the optimal conditions for chitosan degradation in the presence of PVA (37°C, pH 6) or PAA (37°C, pH 4) were found. The biocontrol agent T. viride was embedded in films of chitosan, PVA, chitosan/PVA and chitosan/PAA.
