Therefore, this article is based on the teaching of geography associated with the potential of School Cartography, as ways of reading a whole-world that provides students devise meaningful knowledge construction. It is in this perspective that follow, we will begin to discuss about teaching, questioning how geography is covered and how that science gives holders the effective construction of geographic knowledge. Este artigo reflete os aspectos sobre o conhecimento, educação e ensino de Geografia com enfoque na Cartografia Escolar. A priori, o trabalho traz reflexões no sentido histórico da Geografia enquanto ciência e esta no ensino nas escolas. Esta reflexão tem o objetivo de levantar os elementos que contribuem para a construção de um saber que relacione as vivências diárias dos indivíduos com a Geografia, considerando como a Cartografia se apodera para estudar o espaço.
