Carbohydrate counting is a prudent meal planning approach for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), especially those undergoing multiple daily injections or continuous subcutaneous insulin injections. Carbohydrate counting can make food planning flexible and enjoyable, but limitations exist.
