Winery is the most characteristic construction in counties close to the city of Malaga. The presence of this type of constructions in mountainous areas is documented archaeologically since the ninth century. Since this then, winery has experienced a series of evolutions in its constructive and typological characteristics. This article presents some ideas about rural wineries in Málaga as a result of the analysis of 796 buildings located in the Pechos de Cártama, Almogía, Los Montes and Western Axarquía.
