Mullins Induced Anisotropy and Multi-directional Stiffness Prediction of Rubber Elastic Components

Abstract:By carrying out experiments of rubber specimens under uniaxial tension and tension/pure shear cyclic load, the Mullins softening induced anisotropy of rubber material is studied under biaxial load history effect. The results show that the rubber specimen will produce Mullins softening induced anisotropy in different directions under loading, and increases as the load increases. more » ... cimen's data of experiments under bidirectional cyclic load history, the Mullins softening induced anisotropic parameters are obtained. Then these anisotropic parameters are used to fix softening effect control parameters of pseudo elastic constitutive model and to simulate the stiffness of conical rubber spring with step by step load and grid map way under vertical compressive and transverse shear load by finite element analysis. By means of conical rubber spring suspension stiffness tests, the results show that Mullins softening induced anisotropy parameters can significantly improve the prediction accuracy of multi-directional stiffness of rubber elastic component.
