School-based Behavioural Approach to School Refusal Behaviour : A Case Study of a Junior High School Student Who Returned to Classroom with Behavioural Psycho-education and Active Paternal Intervention

This article reports a successful treatment of a 13 − year − old school refusal male student using a schoo1 − based behavioural approach . There were two phases in the treatment . In the first phase, a school counsellQr instructed his parents in basic behaviour − based psycho − edllcation . The second phase included active paternal intervention ill schDol attendance for the chlld . The approach in this regard continued for six mol ユths , and then the student was able to re − attend classes on a
more » ... daily basis. A six − month follow − up found that the student attended a ! l classes in a stable condition . This study showed that behavioural psycho − education to the parents and active paternal intervention could not only block aversive behaviDurs effectively but also c〔)uld be a means for returning the child to school .
