The current work levels to assess the analgesic effect of vaginal misoprostol versus intramuscular diclofenac sodium and in facilitating IUCD insertion in women with cervical stenosis. Misoprostol significantly facilitated the insertion of IUD whereas diclofenac sodium has lowered the average pain score during all steps of IUD insertion. Side effects were higher in the misoprostol group. Conclusion This study depicts that the use of 400 ugs of misoprostol vaginally, prior to IUD insertion in women with stenosed cervix facilitates the introduction and IM injection of 75 mg diclofenac sodium reduced the pain perception.
