Electron Density Comparison Between IRI 2007 and DEMETER Satellite Data in Solar Minimum Year
2014
Terrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences
Solar activity during 2008 -2009 was extremely low among several recent solar cycles, raising an interesting question regarding the temporal and spatial distribution of the plasma parameters in ionosphere during this time period. This study analyzes the electron density (N e ) data recorded by the DEMETER satellite at the height of 670 km and compares it with the International Reference Ionosphere (IRI) 2007 model with special emphasis on the solar minimum year of 2008. The results show that in
