Validation of Static Program Analysis Tools by Self-Application: A Case Study

The validation of static program analysis tools is an extremely hard and time consuming process since those tools process source code of computer programs that are usually extremely large and complex. In this paper we argue that static program analysis tools can be validated by self-application, i.e. by applying a source code analysis tool to its own source code.
