Because of conchological similarities a number of terrestrial snails collected in the south of the Iberian Peninsula has traditionally been identified as Ponentina subvirescens (Bellamy, 1839). The present paper, however, describes the genital anatomy of these specimens and shows that the species involved must be assigned to the genus Trichia Hartmann, 1840. After a scrutiny of the relevant literatura it is furthermore concluded that the epitheton specificum martigena (as in Helix martigenadoi:10.5281/zenodo.4653564 fatcat:bp3aiho4pnfa5bcyi464r2ji6i
