When planning and manufacturing pressure vessels there must be taken into consideration high quality standard prescriptions, because they contain substances which can be hazardous for the environment and human health. As the bundle tubes heat exchanger must be able to cool the wet clorine gas it cannot be manufactured from stainless steel, because the gas destroys it. For this reason the producer chose as heat exchanger material the unalloyed titanium with the designation Titanium Grade 2. This
more » ... material has high affinity to the oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen, this arise problems when welding it so there was need for several experiments to determine it's weldability. The welding operation must be made by qualified welder. Due to these things we can found that the critical point in producing pressure vessels from titanium is the operation of welding.
