1891 The Lancet  
died at Rainham, after a short illness due to the severity of the winter. For those who knew him but little more need be added. The sorrow of his family-deep though it must needs be--is shared by -all who have ever come in contact with him whom we have now lost. Mr. Penfold, at the termination of his student life at Guy's Hospital in 1856, became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons. Shortly afterwards he was appointed surgeon in charge of the works of the London, 'Chatham, and Dover Railway, which was then being laid down.
