This paper presents a new magnetic drive for an internal robot/device carried no actuator, no battery and no permanent magnet. We proposed a new driving principle, and developed the verification models and the generator of magnetic field. It became MRI-compatible Endoscope to use distally-mounted CCD Abstract: Recently, it has been reported that intraoperative MRI is very useful particularly in brain surgery. In laparoscopic surgery, some also try to use intraoperative MRI. We have developed a

We evaluated the MR safety, MR compatibility, and the quality of the laparoscopic view in vivo. The scope was not attracted to the magnet and controlled easily in the gantry. The laparoscopic view was very clear during the scanning. And also, the spin-echo MR image was not influenced by the scope. In vivo, the scope provided us with the very clear surgical view. Therefore this MRI-compatible endoscope can be applied in clinical use.
