Birefringence Analysis of Transparent Plastic Plate Based on Moldflow

For transparent amorphous Polymers, birefringence can be treated as a method to characteristic residual stress and frozen orientation and also a character of microstructure of Products. Birefringence represents the anisotropy of Products, so it is one of hot pot in the field of polymer processing to study the ingredient and variety distribution of birefringence in injection molded products. In this paper a transparent plastic plate is studied and simulated in different mold temperatures. The
more » ... ults show that the mold temperature can be increased to improve the liquidity of the fluid. When the mold temperature is between 70℃ and 120℃, the value of refractive index decrease before increase, the minimum appeared at 90℃. The maximum value of retardation and phase shift for light occurs near the gate.
