Ali Allawi is an Iraqi statesman who served in post-Saddam Iraq as Minister of Defense and then Minister of Finance and is currently a Senior Fellow at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. In his book The Crisis of Islamic Civilization he gives a wake-up call for Muslims "to muster the inner resources of their faith to fashion a civilizing outer presence."
