Effectiveness of simulation games in behavior modification of children

In the present digital era, newer techniques are required that would attract the attention of children and aid in the modification of behavior. This study evaluated the efficacy of dental simulation games as a tool in behavior modification. Materials and Methods: A randomized clinical-control study was conducted among 60 children (30-control group and 30-trial group). more » ... layed a dental simulation game and their behavior was assessed after a simple dental procedure. The children in the control group were given no such games and their behavior also was assessed after a simple dental procedure. Statistical analysis was performed using Pearson's Chi-square test. Results: About 78% of children had a positive behavior change after playing dental simulation games. Conclusion: Videogames are an effective medium to deliver behavior modification messages in an entertaining and engaging format.
