Resumo Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a importância do uso de diferentes recursos metodológicos para o ensino de Matemática, considerando a diversidade na sala de aula. Os resultados mostraram que é possível ensinar Matemática aos estudantes com deficiência visual, simultaneamente com os demais estudantes e que, se utilizados de forma planejada, os jogos contribuem para a formação das funções superiores por meio da elaboração de conceitos matemáticos. Abstract This article aims to show the importance of using different methodological resources for teaching mathematics, considering the diversity in the classroom. The study was conducted through bibliographic studies and field research, with educational intervention in an eighth grade class of a public elementary school, in the interior of Paraná State, which had a visual disabled student included. The game "Catch the King" and the chessboard were used as mediating tools for the development of the Area concept, with inference to the Notable Products between two terms. The results showed that it is possible to teach mathematics to students with visual disabilities at the same time as to the other students and that, if used in a planned way, the games contribute to the formation of higher functions through the development of mathematical concepts.
