A computer-controlled facility has been developed and used for studying model bending magnets and quadrupoles for the 200 GeV synchrotron. With the use of fast sample-and-hold circuits, measurements are taken under pulsed conditions simulating actual synchrotron operation. The computer performs immediate analysis of the data. such as quadrupole harmonic analysis or calculating the bending magnet sextupole component. Accurate probe position is attained with a standard lathe bed. Translation is

Carriage wobble is compen-· ~ated by an auto-reflecting laser controlling probe-tilting motors. In this work, integrators with extremely low drift have also been developed. ~~
