Spectroscopic observations of the 1982 eclipse of 31 Cygni

The £ Aurigae binary system 31 Cygni (K4 Ib+B4 V, period = 10.4 years) was observed during egress from chromospheric eclipse in 1982 with 11.3 Àmm -1 coudé spectroscopy. A rich chromospheric absorption spectrum was observed, decreasing in strength as the egress progressed. Chromospheric line strengths are consistent with those observed during previous eclipses, indicating no changes in size in the K-star chromosphere.
