A static performance evaluation technique is proposed to support early, architecture-level design space exploration for component-based embedded systems. The novel contribution is the use of a designer-specified evaluation scenario to identify a characteristic subset of system functionality that serves as a context for a rapid performance evaluation between candidate architectures.
