Linseed is an important, yet underutilised oilseed crop of the world. It can be used as food and feed, as raw material for pharmaceuticals, industrial use, textile industries etc. It is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acid and can be used as a substitute for nonfish eaters. The fatty acid composition is comparable to that of soybean. Apart from oil, it also contains good amount of proteins and secondary metabolites.
