unpublished
Tongue is a dynamic organ that influences breathing, speech, breastfeeding and swallowing, therefore playing a critical role in facial development. Changes in the lingual frenum may have special clinical significance, contributing to the disfunction of orofacial muscles, possibly causing speech and swallowing impediments, undergrowth of the maxillofacial skeleton, periodontal tissue maturation malfunctions and dental malocclusion, up to even predisposing to respiratory disorders during sleep.
