Se realizó un estudio documental bibliográfico, con el objetivo de realizar una revisión de la contaminación de los ríos, el marco legal y establecer algunos factores que inciden en la contaminación del río Guayas y sus afluentes. Se realizan citas bibliográficas de los referentes teóricos más destacados, de acuerdo a los lineamientos de la investigación. Los autores concluyen que los factores que inciden en la contaminación del río Guayas y sus afluentes son las constantes descargas de aguas residuales, industriales, desechos tóxicos, polución del suelo, solido flotantes, entre otros, asimismo, se recomienda controlar y realizar un tratamiento adecuado a las descargas de aguas residuales, desechos industriales, desechos tóxicos, polución del suelo, que afectan de manera directa a la contaminación del río Guayas. Bibliographic citations are made of the most outstanding theoretical references, according to the guidelines of the research.
