Our urgent requirements to improve the operational performance of weapon systems while reducing their operating and support costs can be met only by improving their quality and reliability. Environmental stress screening (ESS) has been shown to be a significant aid towards meeting these objectives. This document is the culmination of work that began in the mid-1980s when industry, with Government encouragement, initiated the revision and improvement of existing Government ESS guidelines. The
