Assim, buscou-se compreender em que como se dava a atuação das tipografias na cidade, bem como a dos demais elementos que constituíam o circuito de produção e distribuição do livro. Para tanto foram realizadas a leitura e análise de anúncios de jornais, inventários de livreiros, literatura de época e frontispício de obras literárias publicadas em Fortaleza. Desta feita pode-se comprovar a importante participação dos sujeitos envolvidos nas diversas etapas da produção, não só de livros, mas de impressos em geral, no crescimento do mercado editorial local, bem como pra o desenvolvimento da Práticas Letradas Palavras-chave: Fortaleza século XIX. Abstract: The present work composes one of the topics of the dissertation under construction that aims to study the book production in Fortaleza at the end of the eighties. The text presented here aims to analyze the performance of the so-called "literature intermediaries" in the city of Fortaleza in the last decade of the 19th century. When studying the production of books in the city of Ceará during the period mentioned, the important role played by these subjects, typographers, bookbinders, publishers and booksellers, was observed in the development of the local bookshop. Thus, it was sought to understand how the printing presses in the city were given, as well as the other elements that constituted the production and distribution circuit of the book. For this purpose, the reading and analysis of newspaper advertisements, book inventories, periodicals and the frontispiece of literary works published in Fortaleza were carried out.
